Notre-Dame de Québec basilica-cathedral

Erected in 1647 in Old Quebec, this cathedral after 2 fire was rebuilt in 1923. Notre-Dame de Quebec is the 1st stone church and the oldest in North America. In 1966 it was classified as an "historical monument". The remnants of Bishop Francois de Laval, 1st bishop of Quebec, were buried in a chapel dedicated to him.

This religious building is also an art gallery. Gold shines: the golden canopy, the altar and the Episcopal carved canopy (work of Francis BAILLARGER, 18th century)are awesome! The windows and tables to tell the story of the Virgin and Saints. The sanctuary lamp, a gift from Louis XV, is unique.

Finally, 3 Casavant organs furnish the majestic Cathedral.
