Downtown Montreal without cars

The Sainte-Catherine Street and around the Bay store and Phillips Square is teeming with pedestrians who thronged the streets of downtown Montreal for the day "In town without my car". The European tradition has inspired the holding of this event in Montreal, which aims to inform and educate the public about the need for sustainable mobility and responsibly address issues including climate change. Since transportation is responsible for almost half the emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and respiratory diseases in the region, the objective of this day is to encourage people to change their modes of transport. Several alternatives are then presented to the public to promote means of transport which are not harmful to the environment.
