Maison Mère-Mallet Chapel

The chapel of the Motherhouse-Mallet is housed in the central wing of the building inhabited by the Sisters of Charity of Quebec. Mother Marcelle Mallet has created in 1849 a religious impregnated charisma of universal charity of St. Marguerite d'Youville. It was originally the project of construction of this chapel 67 feet high of pure white that is a little-known architectural gem of the old capital.

The Gothic Revival chapel was designed by architect Charles Baillairgé who did not hesitate to innovate in the development of his architectural plans. Three fires have ravaged the temple until today and the last reconstruction, faithful to the work of Baillairgé, in 1915.

The sculptor and architect François-Xavier Quebec Berlinguet realized altars.
