Saint Benedict's Abbey

In 1912 Dom Paul Vannier surrounded by other Benedictine monks expelled from France, following the anticlerical laws, purchases land and a few small wooden buildings overlooking Lake Memphremagog. This view of a future monastery. The spectacular setting lends itself to reflection, prayer and peace.

In 1941 the French architect Dom Paul Bellot inaugurated the monastery at the impressive architecture resembling a French chateau with turrets, its green copper roof and stone walls. The polychrome brick reproduce geometric shapes natural elegance.

Then they built the hotel, the crypt of the church, the steeple and the church.

The fifty monks devote themselves to meditation, to farming (orchards, beef, cheese, cider, etc..) And accueuil of 100.000 to 200.000 visitors per year. You can attend Mass 11hres the sound of the organ and Gregorian chants. The Abbey is a haven of peace!
